Motorcycle Lift Safety Precautions

To raise a motorcycle on a steady platform lift tables are used, permitting bike enthusiasts and motorcycle mechanics unobstructed access to examine and repair vehicle from underneath. In case there is a need to replace wheel, these lifts are appropriate to perform such task. In most of the auto repair shops multiple vehicle lift tables are standard equipments that can be seen. In addition to this, some vehicle owners install lifts in their home garage for vehicle maintenance and repair.

In older times these lifts were seen only in the vehicle service stations. However, now any vehicle owner can easily avail and afford lifts because these are economical and effective for carrying out tasks such as washing, fixing minor faults and inspecting their vehicle from underside. Most of the people have now become conscious and know how to save their money and time. So in order to do so, they avoid taking their bike to a service station for getting a minor defect fixed and use motorcycle lift tables for effectually performing the repair work.

There are several kinds of such tables available in the automobile market and as per your requirement and budget you can buy one. Initially there were no standards specified for manufacturing lift tables, but now there are predefined industry standards that are uniformly followed by the manufactures of these equipments. These standards ensure safety and security of the vehicle and the rider. Lifts have developed for better handling of the structure of new generation motorcycles.

Frequent accidents occur during the vehicle lifting process. The vehicle should be carefully loaded on a lift. Users should ensure that the lift supports are in contact with the manufacturer’s suggested lifting points. The lift can be raised to the preferred working height, after secure contact is made. If the work is to be done under the motorcycle, the lift should be elevated high enough for its locking apparatus to be engaged.

Appropriate utilization and maintenance of the lifting tools is indispensable. Jamming or superseding the controls is hazardous. The rated capacity is always mentioned by the manufacturer. Regardless of this, some people use the lift tables to raise vehicles that go beyond the weight limit. It is always to be kept in mind that prevention is better than cure. All the safety measures should be taken in consideration before using lift tables. Errors made before the motorcycle is lifted results in mishaps. The lift arms must be appropriately positioned, sooner than the vehicle is raised. If the center of gravity of the bike is not on the center of the lift, these may tip off resulting in damaging the vehicle or can injure the user.
